FOOD ON THE RADIO
Thinking about all things food, there is another avenue for us foodies to get our food fix: radio. One of the things I liked to do when I lived in Pittsburgh was listen to The Splendid Table hosted by Lynne Rossetto Kasper on NPR (National Public Radio) on Sunday afternoons. It was an hour long show that came on at 4pm.
Here is an excerpt from the web site describing the show: “American Public Media’s The Splendid Table is public radio’s culinary, culture, and lifestyle program that celebrates food and its ability to touch the lives and feed the souls of everyone. Each week, award-winning host Lynne Rossetto Kasper leads listeners on a journey of the senses and hosts discussions with a variety of writers and personalities who share their passion for the culinary delights updated every Friday.”
We aren’t able to get the NPR programs on our radio that we used to listen to but now with the miracle of the internet we are able to get it through our computers. Go to http://splendidtable.publicradio.org/. You can Listen to the most recent show from this past Sunday, Download a show for future listening or Subscribe to the Podcast. All it requires is downloading a free copy of iTunes. The website is also another great resource for recipes.
Sit back, sip a glass of wine, enjoy the stories, interviews and maybe even learn something new. CHEERS!
