It’s getting more and more exciting every time I go to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings. Slowly but surely the variety of spring time veggies is growing. Today John and India accompanied me. There were FIVE local artisans at the market and we bought something from every one except Diane (sorry Diane, I didn’t need a new dish cloth today – but I will in the near future – promise!). I love the green and purple color of the fresh asparagus, it’s so pretty, really, vegetables can be pretty. I challenge you to find pretty asparagus at the grocery store! Actually all of it was beautiful and I can’t wait to eat it. Here is the low down (or the down low as my husband would say) on today’s haul from the Franklin Farmer’s Market: eggs, tomatoes & white onion sets from
Herb of Chatley Farms, Black Russian Bread from Rick of Homestyle Bakery, green leaf lettuce and asparagus from Pat of Youngs Farm & Greenhouse and donuts from Aletha of Sugar Sisters.
Tonight we are having Pasta Carbonara and a salad with our Farmer’s Market lettuce and tomatoes. Tomorrow I’m thinking Cream of Asparagus Soup or maybe Roasted Asparagus with Chicken, and oh, maybe Grilled Reubens on Monday with Rick’s delicious Black Russian Bread. Stay tuned for the recipes… and let me know if you find out who ate those other 2 donuts.
